So, i painted theese babies about ten years ago. One SL-1200 MK2 (really old) and one SL-1200 MK2a.

I gave them blue leds at the on/off unit, and pitch led is blue when 0% and red when + or -.
I also added a mod to make the platter change direction when double-tapping the startbutton.

No the paint has some dents and its time to change the color. They will be blue metallic (humbrol 52). they will get new pitch decals (alu), new audio cables with ground wire mod. And the popup light will be blue LEDs.

I found this page when googling and man what a source for inspiration. I'm gonna share what i do with you guys, and i'm open for ideas of what more I should do when they're open.

/Peter

Thank you! Now i also have figured out how to upload the pictures :)

I will keep the platter black, to make a good contrast against the blue, also because the LEDs are blue. But i want to clean them. Any good tips on how to clean them good without loosing the paint?

Thank you Matriks!

I cleaned the tonearm (10 years of dust) and gave it a new RCA cable. While at it i cleaned and put new grease in the height adjustment.
I was going to do the ground wire mod, but changed my mind. I disconnect my TTs from my mixer maybe once every fourth year or so, not very important mod.

Cleaned tonearm vs dirty

The RCA was a bit thick, so i had some trouble closing up the tonearm.

The first frontplate look like this now.

wow, that was a crappy photo.

now back to the sink and keep on sanding!
