Hi all,

i often had to repair defective or wrong assembled pitchfaders so i tought it would be good if anyone could SEE what to do ... here we go...

First of all the Pitchunit had to be disassambled from the turntable, i think this should be no problem at all

go:

needed tools

complete "old" Pitchunit with new Pitchfader

first of all, unsolder the LED

remove the 2 screws upon the fader and remove the plate.

unsolder the pins of the old pitchfader, for this use a solderpump. in some cases the pins are twisted 90°, use a universal pliers to bend them straigt, then remove the old pitch.

...

REMOVING THE PITCHCLICK (skip the next four steps if you want to keep it)

the new pitch from below

Bend the Pins carefuly with a slot screwdriver 90°, exactly this much that you can open the pitch. do not overbend them, they could break. Take time for this work and DO IT RIGHT.

Open Pitchfader. remove the slider from the pitch to remove the spring and the ball from the slider (as seen on the next picture). Then you can reassemble the Pitch, there is ONLY ONE WAY to do this right. The slider hat to be put in the pitchhousing that the hole from where the spring and the ball was removed got its direction to the hole in the pitchfader housing. The Pitch PCB has a gap that is a little bigger then the other gaps ... there is only one position to fit it right with the faderhousing! CAUTION! If you do not reassemble the pitch correct it wont work!

Spring and Ball...

place the Pitchfader on the PCB an solder it very well.

finished...

reassemble the LED, watch the polarity!

set the potentiometer with a multimeter to 2,875kOhm

Thats it, reassmble the Pitchunit and be happy! :dance2:

however: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

i you cant regulate it to 2,875kOhm you should change your pitch ;)

Hello.

I think for Mk2 pitchfader the resistance should be 2.7 kOhm

I've seen this information on various places, for example

http://www.prodjforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4890

2.875 kOhm is value for M3D pitchfader (or Mk4 or another higher model, I'm not sure)

Hi
Tell me please. May I replace Pitch Control SL-1210 MK2 with SL-1210 MK5 or MK5G or M3D?

Yes, if you only replace the slider. But you wont have a function at zero (no led will lit up)

Thanks. I want pitch control without function at zero.
For what you measured resistance? What mistakes I will do?

Hello, thanks for this very useful guide.

i have two questions about pitchfader:

1- i don't know the correct resistance value for MK2 (1984 and 1995 build). 2,875 or 2,70??

2- if i declick eliminating ball and spring, at the zero position the LED same light on?

1. depends on the pitch fader, the old one has 10 feeds (3 on each end and 4 in the middle) -> 2.7kOhm, the new one has 4 on each and -> 2.875kOhm

2. Yes, LED still light up.

hello kaype, many thanks for the info. Just for my curiosity, since Technics has installed the new 8 feeds? Because i have a 1200MK2 assembled in 1984 with new pitch.
